Healthy Me

Burley Woodhead Primary promotes a healthy lifestyle through a range of different initiatives: the school council have worked closely with the cook to plan the school menu and ensure they meet national food standards; packed lunch guidance has been published and a sugar  awareness campaign has proved successful in reducing the amount of sugar children bring in to school.  All children learn to make healthy meals as part of the curriculum and Key Stage 2   children and their families can attend Let’s Get Cooking after school club, where produce from the school garden is turned into healthy meals.

Burley Woodhead is a strong sporting school.  A significant proportion of pupils achieve well in a very wide range of sports. The school handball, swimming, cross country and football teams have done exceptionally well in the local competitions.

We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all children both through two hours of good-quality PE for each child each week in school time and our wide variety of sporting  activities out of school hours.   

 We have recently been awarded the School Games Gold Mark, in recognition of our fantastic sports provision.
