Spiritual Me
Spiritual Me encourages children to get to know themselves and others, and to reflect on life’s big questions.
As a church school we provide education for the whole community and welcome families from all denominations and beliefs. Pupils come from the village; some travel from Bradford and surrounding areas and from a variety of backgrounds. The school aims to provide every child with a modern, safe, welcoming and thought provoking education.
The school has close links with our local church, St Mary’s, where we celebrate Easter, Christmas and Harvest. The school’s ethos has a Church of England foundation and we work closely with the Church at parish and diocesan level to promote Christian values through the experience we offer all of our pupils.
Foundation governors on the board provide support to ensure the school’s continued improvement. Members of local churches regularly attend school collective worship.
Christian values of trust and respect underpin all activities in school; producing confident, articulate and well-rounded children with strong relationships between all members of the school community and exemplary behaviour. We believe that the impact of the school’s distinctive values remains with the children when they transfer to secondary education. This is seen in their willingness to take a lead or to support others. Our pupils regard the school as a “big, happy family” in which they feel safe, happy and well cared for and so enjoy coming to school. Attendance is well above the national average.
The school’s longstanding links with the African community of Tereli and links with a culturally diverse school in Bradford, foster respect for diversity and difference and support pupils’ development as responsible citizens. Throughout their time at school, children are encouraged to get to know themselves and others through thought and reflection .
