With a commitment that every child should be a fluent reader by the time they leave Key Stage 1, Burley Woodhead Primary School has been named as a Little Wandle Champion School. We were one of the first four schools in the country to be awarded Champion School Status and the first in the north of English.
More than 5,000 schools are using Little Wandle Letters and Sounds for their phonics and early reading provision. Burley Woodhead CE Primary school has contributed to the development of the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised programme
Following an assessment visit in July 2022, Burley Woodhead CE has been selected as a Champion School for its “exemplary practice” including meeting 16 Standards of Excellence. We now support other schools in the successful implementation of Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised programme which includes holding live showcases events.
We are excited to continue to work with Little Wandle Letters and Sounds as the programme continues to develop.
